"Places to see" is a cultural project launched in 2015 that originally targeted refugees. It was developed by the mediation departments of the Frankfurt museums and funded by the City's Cultural Department of Frankfurt. In recent years, the target audience has expanded. Today, "Places to see" is a cooperative project of 22 Frankfurt museums, Palmengarten, and the Zoo, which offers a diverse educational and mediation program free of charge to non-profit organizations. The offerings, including guided tours and participatory workshops, are aimed at groups of all ages and individuals with or without refugee experience.

At the start of the new year 2022, the DFF, together with the Family Education Center "Al Karama" from Frankfurt's North-West district, participated in the format expansion "Places to see / LABOR." The LABOR enables a more intensive collaboration with a cultural institution over an extended period and allows for the testing of experimental formats.

In a collaboratively designed program, the participants – accompanied and guided by the DFF film educator Julian Namé and the musician Patrícia Pinheiro – built sound instruments from everyday objects and then used them to score their own silent photo film. The DFF met the group (30 Frankfurt women between the ages of 25 and 75) during the model project "Unser DFF," which aimed to open the institution more to the Frankfurt community. During that project, ideas for further collaboration were gathered that aligned with the needs and interests of the "Al Karama" women. Many of them live in the North-West district and find the journey to Frankfurt's city center difficult for various reasons. In response, the DFF wants to take the desire for encounters in the participants' own neighborhood seriously by conducting workshops not only at the DFF but also within the district itself.

The DFF plans to integrate this collaboratively designed workshop into its museum education program.

"Places to see / LABOR" is supported by the Cultural Office of Frankfurt am Main.
